Apple's Human Interface VFX team designs product experiences, from early ideation all the way through to the shipping product. To ensure high-quality results, we work closely with other HI design teams, software teams, graphics engineers and product marketing.
Description
We are in search of an Art Director to ideate and develop a wide range of concepts throughout our design process. The ideal candidate is an independent thinker who thrives in a collaborative setting, working hand in hand with other designers to flesh out ideas. They should be comfortable in both 2D and 3D image creation, and is capable of progressing work from sketch to 3D model to presentation quality renders.

Key Qualifications
- 15+ years of production experience specializing in visual design for feature films or advertising
- Ability to express your designs and concepts through hand sketches, paint overs, concept paintings, digital comps, matte paintings, rapid prototyping, and 3D rendering
- Demonstrated eye for color and composition
- Working understanding of photographic processes and techniques
- Proficiency in working with Photoshop, Cinema 4D, Houdini or equivalent 2D/3D software packages
- Self-motivated and curious, with an enthusiasm to learn new tools and workflows
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of leading collaborative efforts across departments
- Portfolio/Reel required
Education & Experience
BA/BFA in Digital Media, Visual Effects, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Additional Requirements
- Solid understanding of DCC tools across VFX disciplines
- 3D paint experience is a plus (Mari, Substance 3D Painter, ZBrush, etc)
- Experience working with external art teams and outsource partners
- Ability to find creative solutions for technically challenging tasks
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $189,800 and $284,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
