We are looking for a strategic and influential Head of Sales - Melbourne to drive the expansion of our advertising business within the agency and brand sector. As the ‘Head of Sales - Melbourne’ you will wield your extensive expertise to lead and elevate our market presence, establishing and nurturing pivotal relationships with high-level agency holding companies and independent agencies. This role demands a visionary mindset, requiring you to define the sales strategy, amplify Outbrain's value proposition, and drive both revenue growth and team leadership.

A day in the life

  • Develop and execute the overall revenue strategy:
    • Identify and prioritize agencies, industries, and customer segments
  • Drive revenue growth and client acquisition:
    • Build, lead and inspire a high-performing sales team, providing guidance, coaching, and support
    • Set ambitious revenue targets and ensure they are consistently met or exceeded
    • Identify new business opportunities and develop strategic partnerships
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, agencies, and partners
  • Agency Partnerships:
    • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key decision-makers across advertising agencies (Indies and Big Six)
    • Regular check-in meetings, QBRs and networking events to ensure the ongoing partnership and alignment
  • Revenue operations and processes:
    • Implement sales forecasting and reporting to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement
    • Continuously evaluate and optimize sales processes to drive productivity and revenue growth
  • Stay informed about industry trends and developments:
    • Keep abreast of the evolving Ad tech landscape, emerging technologies, and industry best practices
    • Identify opportunities for product enhancements or innovation to maintain a competitive edge
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders:
    • Work closely with product development, marketing, and finance teams to align revenue strategies with product offerings, promotional activities, and financial goals
    • Provide valuable insights and feedback based on market trends and client feedback to help shape product roadmap and go-to-market strategies

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Extensive track record of at least 8 years in digital advertising sales in Australia, 5+ years in managing sales teams working across advertisers and agencies.
  • Local market contacts in Melbourne are required. 
  • Deep understanding of Ad Tech platforms, programmatic advertising, data-driven marketing, and related technologies
  • Strong business acumen and ability to develop and execute revenue strategies aligned with overall business objectives
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing sales teams
  • Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth, meet or exceed targets, and build strong client/agency relationships
  • Exceptional negotiation skills, with the ability to close deals and forge mutually beneficial partnerships
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, able to effectively articulate the value proposition to diverse audiences
  • Understanding CRM and analytics tools to manage sales pipelines and generate reports would be a huge plus
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adapting quickly to change
  • A visionary sales approach, combining strategic insight and a consultative mindset
  • A strong network within the Ad Tech/Agency ecosystem would be highly beneficial
