News Assistant

Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is looking for a versatile journalist to be our next news assistant in Istanbul.

We are looking for a fluent Turkish speaker who knows Turkey inside and out to support our correspondents in pursuit of journalism for our global readership. The news assistant's primary responsibilities will include: summarizing local media accounts; setting up interviews with local subjects for correspondents and translating when necessary; helping navigate local government and interfacing with officials in Turkey; and conducting research for news articles.

The successful candidate should have three years of experience working as a journalist in Turkey. Arabic language skills aren't required but will be seen as a plus.
