About This Role
Team leader of international Payroll provides daily support and leadership in specific areas while performing payroll activities and is responsible for day-to-day preparation and production of the biweekly/ monthly payroll across Europe, Canada, LATAM & MART countries. This position develops solutions to problems that require creativity and innovativeness under minimum direction. The individual will have the ability to represent the department as a contact on projects internal and external on matters that may require the coordination between organizational units.
This role is in hybrid work model. Please note that this role requires a candidate to be a holder of work permit & residency in Poland.

What You’ll Do
Responsible for various tasks related to payroll administration. Support biweekly/monthly payroll processes, coordinate with Oracle timekeeping system, ensure compliance with laws and internal policies, coach junior payroll team members, collaborate with HR and finance teams, maintain accurate records, liaise with external & internal auditors to support audits, support any Oracle or payroll system related upgrades, and resolve payroll-related issues.
- Perform day-to-day payroll responsibilities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of biweekly/monthly payroll processing
- Develop subject matter expertise in Payroll processes and various systems involved
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and payroll tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions and maintaining accurate payroll records
- Implement enhanced controls/audits in manual payroll activities to ensure defect free payroll processes
- Provide backup support for large or complex markets
- Partner with the payroll vendors to reduce errors, and increase overall efficiency in payroll processing
- Identify Continuous Improvement opportunities during day-to-day operations and present ideas to leadership
- Provide support via Service Now (BiogenCONNECT) for payroll queries from employees
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams for optimal Payroll service delivery (Affiliate HR & Finance, GBS PTP & RTR)
- Act as a resource representing international payroll on cross-functional projects related to both internal and external matters, i.e. working with IT on new system requirements/changes.
- Coach other payroll team members as required
- Develop knowledge base in the team including cross pollination of skills
- Assist with developing and maintaining a service catalog and process documentation for all International payroll activities supported in Global Business Services (GBS) Warsaw
Qualifications
Required skills:
- 5+ years of hands-on payroll experience in a global shared services environment
- 3+ years as senior team member in Payroll, HR, or Finance
- Associate degree in finance or accounting or equivalent professional payroll training/course work
- Knowledge of Spanish preferred
- German & French language is a plus
- Prior experience in ADP, EY and Oracle/OTL systems highly preferred
- Knowledge of operational payroll processes including acquisition integration and disposition activities
- Experience supporting projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience managing a help desk ticketing system with metric reporting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact across levels of the organization including senior leaders
- Proficient in MS Office, including strong Excel skills is required
- Experience in Access is a plus
- Experience of working in a Multinational /multicultural GBS/Shared Service Center /BPO environment preferred
- Healthcare/pharma/Life sciences industry background an advantage
- Experience in an international, customer-centric environment preferred
