This is a remote position within Australia or New Zealand. With a sufficient timezone overlap with the team, we're able to hire eligible candidates for this role from any location in Australia and New Zealand.
As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you'll report to the Head of Technical Program Management for Reliability. You will drive the delivery of our complex Reliability projects in partnership with our SRE, Observability, and Monitoring teams.

We're looking for someone from a technical software background, with experience delivering complex technology programs from inception to execution, partnering with engineering teams and leaders, and has been involved with technical discussions including technical tradeoffs and resolving blockers.
- Be a single point technical owner for reliability processes and technology within the company including leading the definition of reliability data gathering and corresponding SLO/SLA goals.
- Understand business objectives and translate them into technical systems problems that need to be prioritised solved in the current business environment.
- Define specific systems programs and create a plan of action for realising those programs. Such programs could be around reliability improvements and more.
- Use your technical understanding of Atlassian and related systems to partner with and influence engineers and architects in making progress on these problems.
- Responsible for taking a systematic approach to engineering problems. This includes: prioritising tasks, scoping out the project, defining goals, and making progress against each of these.
- Be accountable for the success of these technical programs by managing the entire lifecycle from initiation to forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, etc.
- Manage complex dependencies and projects with a broad scope across the company
- Collaborate with functions across the company to create reliable and cost-effective disaster recovery solutions for all of our cloud products.
- Recent relevant experience as a Principal Technical Program Manager or from similar positions leading software teams such as Principal Technical Product Manager, or SRE Engineering/Development Manager.
- You'll have experience partnering with senior engineering leaders and leading projects spanning multiple teams
- Familiar with creating and implementing the project schedule, making important decisions to keep projects on track, managing risks and dependencies
- You'll be able to demonstrate your understanding of how back end systems are designed and architected, and have experience influencing architecture or technical design leveraging your technical expertise.
- Stakeholder management skills, including influencing without authority, prioritisation, seeking common goals, and conflict resolution.
