Job Description:
The Role
As a Senior Manager of Accounting, you will be a key member of the Fidelity Investments Life Insurance ("FILI") accounting team. You will manage two associates and be responsible for leading a team that supports FILI's accounting and reporting, financial close, and controllership activities.
- Lead a team that oversees the monthly financial close including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Responsible for monthly and quarterly financial close and support regulatory filings and annual financial statement reporting
- Provide well written and insightful financial commentary on financial results including presentations to senior management
- Perform technical accounting research under current guidance and impact of new guidance
- Work closely with business partners by providing accounting expertise in new products and other business initiatives
- Manage the audit process with external auditors
- Lead financial control assessments of financial statement risks and controls and understanding of accounting and financial processes

The Expertise and The Skills You Bring
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA and/or master's degree or equivalent training
- Experience in the Financial Services Industry (10+ years) preferred but not required
- Advanced understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, practices, and internal controls
- Ability to quickly understand and connect key concepts and dependencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leader and mentor that builds relationships with business partners and team members by providing and seeking feedback
- Present and summarize results and complex information to Senior Management
- Manage and review the work of others
- Strong knowledge of how financial systems and dynamic reporting tools work (i.e., Oracle and Essbase) and are highly proficient in Excel
- You and your team exercise strong technical, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to address problems in a timely manner.

As an outstanding leader and team member, you play a key role on the FILI Accounting Team whose primary responsibilities are to ensure that transactions are recorded accurately for financial results and protecting the firm's assets through our work in financial accounting, internal controls, and legal entity reporting. FILI, who is part of Fidelity's Wealth organization, provides annuity and insurance products that enable our customers to save for retirement and generate guaranteed lifetime income to meet their needs.

Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs. Currently, most hybrid roles require associates to work onsite all business days of one assigned week per four-week period (beginning in September 2024, the requirement will be two full assigned weeks).
